Czech Underground
About a book
This book is summary of art era named as Czech underground. Chapters in a book are organized from past to present. The book is only about the artists who did make performance or happening artwork and were persecuted for their work. Book contains five chapters betwen era of second world war till work of present artists.
Headlines of the chapters are hand made on letterpress. Paragraphs of text are inspired by police documents that were made for each artist about their work or about their imprisonment. Text is blurry, blackened and some parts are additionally written by hand. Whole book is hand-bound and put in black file. The file is made as old type of textbook. On the box cover is a picture of switchboard that is recolored from 50´s till now and shows a time gape betwen the past and present.

BOX for the book
This box is part of the book with two round buttons. Box is closing by string that go around the buttons
First version of the pages were more colorfull then the final product. I tried to show parts of work from each artist on one page. This page is about Milan Knizak and his passion for hand-made text and parts from his performance. One of them is sleeping people or playing on bass at the street.
Second artist was Jiri Kovanda. He used simple objects or his own present in his happenings. Like his kissing with strangers over the glass.
