About book
West and East book is life record of one family. The series counts of two books, each of them focused on one person from the family. The first book, the West, is covered in darker wood and has to be on top when we read both books together. The main figure of this book is a boy named Richard. We can track his life from 1948 till now in this book. East book is the second book, in the lighter cover. We are putting this book on the bottom while reading. The main figure of this book is a girl named Jitka. Both books start their story in present time, the year 2018. Time-lapse is going back in the time and end in the year 1938.
The book tells the story about two siblings who were born in second world wartime and had to be separate from each other in 1948. All images and design are tailored for each book separately. The West book is in a colour, the East book on the other hand just black and white. The West should resemble colourful time behind east iron Curtain and shows the capitalistic life there. The East resemble socialistic lifestyle and grey era of Czechoslovakia under the Communist Party.
